Conduit was my second condo software innovation. An electronic Status Certificate system that revolutionized the condo industry.

Conduit is a cloud-based software that took a labourous, time-intensive process and digitized it so that payments could be made quickly and easily online. When we initially introduced the finished product it was met with complete contempt, many professing it to be illegal or non-compliant, and that there was no business model for it. We ignored them because we saw where this essential segment of the condo industry had to go, and within a few years Conduit became the industry standard.

Conduit processes millions of dollars of online transactions every year and is the largest Status Certificate system in Canada.

I knew I was onto something when much larger organizations began trying to copy our product—even some of the language—only to have limited or no success.

GROUND BREAKING, TRAILBLAZING SOFTWARE

To build Conduit, it took an investment of hundreds of thousands of dollars. I designed a system that was free to management companies, solving many issues, but sign-ups were slow out of the gate. I learned that being first-to-market was tough in every respect, but I’m glad we persevered as it’s a core part of Shiftuite’s success.
